Prague is simply magical, with so much culture and a beautiful old town.
The «Golden City» Prague
with its wonderful location on the Vltava River, is probably one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The old town, which is completely intact and characterised by Gothic and Baroque styles, is a delight for everyone and has been recognised by UNESCO as one of the 12 World Heritage Sites of the Czech Republic. Prague is also the capital and the most populous city in the Czech Republic.
Prague, the city of a hundred towers
The Vltava divides the city of a hundred towers into two parts. On the left the so-called Lesser Town and on the right the Old Town, the Jewish Quarter and the New Town. The built-up island "Kampa" is said to be the second most beautiful city island in the world. This is the only reason why Prague is worth a city break. By plane you reach Prague in about 1.5 hours and is therefore a great destination for a long weekend.
Art and culture
There is plenty of entertainment in Prague. It enjoys an international reputation as a theatre city. The opera house offers first-class performances, and the numerous pantomime theatres are world-famous. For museum lovers there are more than enough exhibitions worth seeing in Prague. In addition to the National Museum, the Jewish Museum, the Kepler Museum and the National Gallery, among others, vie for your favour.
From Mozart to Smetana
Walking through the streets you get the impression of hearing Mozart's Don Giovanni and strolling along the Vltava, Bedrich Smetana's symphonic poem, which had its premiere in Prague in 1882, sounds very quiet.
