Enjoy Swedish coziness and hospitality
Arrival to Stockholm
The flight to Stockholm from Switzerland takes about 2 hours. In contrast to the train journey, this is quite fast. Nevertheless, it is also possible to reach the Swedish capital by train; for example by night train to Hamburg and from there by day train and ferry.
The city of contrasts
The capital of Sweden is also called "the beauty of the water" because of its location on the islands. As you discover this vibrant city, you will be fascinated by its contrasts: narrow alleys in the Gamla Stan, dominating high-rise buildings with glass facades on the Sergels Torg or the guard parade in the courtyard of the castle.
Stockholm is the largest city in Scandinavia and has been the residence of the Swedish royal family since 1643. In addition, the Swedish parliament, the government, several universities and colleges have their headquarters in Stockholm.
Art and Culture
In addition to the Reichstag building and the palace, there are many other sights to discover. For example, a visit to the Vasa Museum is a great excursion. You can admire the well-preserved shipwreck, which sank in 1628 during its maiden voyage. Besides the wreck there are also other archaeological finds from the early 17th century.
Beside the sights there are of course also various possibilities for shopping or museum visits. The city also offers many attractive events throughout the year. City trips to Stockholm offer something for every taste.
Stockholm and the salmon
About 30 percent of the city area is covered with water. The city gets its drinking water from the Mälar, and the high water quality allows salmon fishing in the middle of the city centre. A large part of the city consists of forest regions.
