The old town of Venice can be easily explored on foot, and access by car is only as far as Piazzale Roma and no further. A hotel in Venice itself is therefore worthwhile in any case. Today, many small hotels are located in the old patrician houses or Doge's palaces, from which one often has a great view to the Canal Grande. Beside these smaller hotels, there is of course also a big selection of luxury hotels.
