An impressive train journey with the GoldenPass Line panorama train over the royal route of Switzerland.
Duration: 6 days / 5 nights

Lucerne is the gateway for Lake Lucerne Region. From historic places on Lake Lucerne, over the eternal snow on Mount Titlis, up to the local mountain Pilatus, out into Lucerne's countryside - everything is easy reachable - at any time of the year.

Interlaken is the adrenalin metropolis of Switzerland and as well the gateway to the three majestic mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. It is located in dreamlike surrounding between the lakes of Thun and Brienz.

With an almost Mediterranean climate, the small town of Montreux is a beautiful place on Lake Geneva and world famous for the jazz festival which takes place every summer.

Travel details

1st day: Arrival in Lucerne
Arrival in Lucerne by train 2nd class from the Swiss border or any Swiss airport. Overnight in Lucerne.

2nd day: Lucerne
Breakfast at the Hotel. Full day at leisure. We suggest an excursion by boat and cogwheel train to Mount Pilatus or to Mount Rigi or discover the beautiful city of Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne.

3rd day: Lucerne to Interlaken (2h)
Breakfast at the Hotel. From Lucerne over the Brünig Pass to Interlaken by the Luzern-Interlaken Express. On your journey you will pass 3 small lakes before reaching Lake Brienz with its very distinctive colour due to its glacial waters. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Interlaken.

4th day: Interlaken
Breakfast at the Hotel. Full day at leisure. We suggest a journey to the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe, the highest railway station in Europe located at 3454m. Don't miss out the following attractions: Alpine Sensation, Sphinx, Jungfrau Panorama, Lindt Swiss Chocolate Heaven, Ice Palace and Snow Fun. Overnight in Interlaken.

5th day: Interlaken to Montreux (3h)
Breakfast at the hotel. From Interlaken you take the train to Zweisimmen and change to the GoldenPass Panoramic train to Montreux. You find yourself among alpine forests, bubbling mountain springs and picturesque mountain villages. Possibility to stop in Gstaad for an optional excursion to Glacier 3000. Overnight in Montreux.

6th day: Departure from Montreux
Breakfast at the hotel. Time at leisure for an optional visit of the Medieval Chillon Castle. Return to Swiss border, Swiss airport or individual onward journey.

This tour can also be booked in the opposite direction.

On the way to Lucerne we recommend a stop at Arth-Goldau. There you take the cogwheel railway up to Mount Rigi. Or you take the boat from Lucerne to Weggis and board the aerial cableway. The «Queen of the Mountains» offers 100 kilometers of hiking trails with a stunning panorama. On Europe's first cogwheel train you will get back to Vitznau where you can take a boat back to Lucerne. » When: according to timetable. Duration: half day.

Enjoy a boat trip on lake Lucerne and a stunning view of the surrounding mountains. In Alpnachstad you will board the steepest cogwheel railway in the world to reach the summit. Then take the aerial cableway and the panoramic gondolas back to Kriens where you board the bus to go back to Lucerne. » When: daily, from mid-May to mid-October from/to Lucerne. Duration: 4 hours.

From Lucerne the train takes you to the mountain monastery village Engelberg where you board the Titlis Xpress to Stand. From there the world's first revolving cable car Titlis Rotair takes you up to Mount Titlis. Rochers-de-Naye has always been a popular destination for nature lovers and its main peak is 2042 m high. Once an hour, a rack railway waits at the Montreux train station, which climbs more than 1600 m of differences in altitude while passing fields, villages and forests.
